Human Resources
Leadership and specialist human-resources searches for financial institutions, beside the business and the licence.
Inside a licensed firm
Human resources in a financial institution is not a generalist corporate function with a different name on the door. The population includes licensed persons. Hiring, reward, conduct, and exit all have a regulatory record attached. A business partner who cannot tell a producer from a control role will not last beside a markets or banking head.
The work splits, and the split matters. Business human resources sits with the division: the hiring plan, producer compensation, mobility, and the exits a regulated firm has to do properly. A centre of expertise sits across the firm: reward, talent, employee relations, and the employment framework. Leadership of the function has to hold both, and has to be credible with the chief executive as well as with the business.
- Business partners for markets, banking, or asset management, who already know how those desks staff.
- Reward: producer pay, deferral, and the governance around it.
- Regulatory workforce: fit and proper, licensing notifications, outside interests, and personal dealing.
- Leadership of the function, where the seat has to hold the business and the centre together.
What the brief specifies
A search names the institution, the region, and the seat. Leadership of the whole function is a different mandate from a reward specialist, a markets business partner, or a person hired to build a team in a new office.
The employer stays unnamed. Candidates are told which business they would sit beside, and which part of the function they would actually own.
