Asset Management
Public-fund leadership, product authorisation, and portfolio teams for platforms building or expanding in Asia.
The platform
The searches sit with managers building or extending a public-fund business. A fund is not a title. It is an investment objective, a permitted universe, an offering document, a dealing calendar, a valuation policy, and a distributor willing to put it on a shelf.
Product work is that machinery: design, authorisation, the relationship with the fund administrator and the custodian, and the board that has to approve it. Portfolio work is the book inside the vehicle. Benchmark, active risk or tracking error, capacity, liquidity, and what the manager will not hold.
- Investment leadership: the chief investment officer, and portfolio managers who already run a book.
- Product: taking a fund from design through authorisation and onto a dealing calendar.
- Distribution: explaining the vehicle to a professional investor or a distributor, not to a retail campaign.
- The operating set: administrator, custodian, valuation, and the board.
What changes the search
A long-only equity book, a multi-asset mandate, an exchange-traded fund, and a fund of funds are different searches. So is a platform new to a market, which needs someone who has already taken a product through the local authorisation process, against a platform that only needs another portfolio manager on an existing range.
The search starts from the product, the investor, and the seat. It does not start from a list of asset-management titles. The employer is not named. Candidates are told what the fund is, what it is not, and what they would be accountable for in the first year.
